Just Up The Road
Last night I had the strangest dream
You and I were standing in a stream
That was flowing from heavens gate
Where angels love to congregate
I heard a voice from deep inside
Said get in line or step aside
I grabbed your hand and said lets go, I know a place, just up the road
Where poetry don’t have to rhyme
Where painters paint outside the line
Where thinkers think and dream all night
Where love is stronger than left or right
Where little girls don’t have to fear
That their daddy’s will disappear
So when your ready we can go, I know a place just up the road
You don’t have the dress up
it’s ok if you mess up
You just need to show up
And we’ll drink again from that sacred cup
So if your ready, we can go, I know a place, just up the road
Where the hungry are always fed
Where the weary can find a bed
Where the strong always helps the weak
Where greatness always springs a leak
Where little boys grow strong and kind
Refuse to leave their gals behind
So if your ready we can go, I know a place just up the road
Where little girls grow strong and wise
Knows when its best to compromise
Where boys and girls stand side to side
Feet on the ground and eye on the prize
So one and all are welcomed here
We’ll serve you coffee and crafted beer
If you want to claim your soul, I know a place where I’ve been told
You don’t have the dress up
It’s ok if you mess up
You just need to show up
And we’ll drink again from the sacred cup
So if your ready we can go, I know a place, just up the road
Where power is given to the meek
Where the silent get a chance to speak
Where the margins don’t disappear
Where immigrants don’t have to fear
Where the dead can come alive
And everyone gets a chance to drive
Where the truth is never bought and sold
I know a place where I’ve been told
You don’t have the dress up
It’s ok if you mess up
You just need to show up
And we’ll drink again from the sacred cup
So if your ready, we can go, I know a place, just up the road
