The Outer Café

One of the these days, we are going to wake up, and one of us will be gone

But the sun, will continue to shine, even though the curtains drawn

I’ll be sitting here, at the outer cafe, just  the other side of time

Where the lovers wait, outside the gate, for those they leave behind

Sitting here, the weathers clear, I can see for a thousand years

The ups and downs, and the turn arounds, of those that  I hold dear

I’ve heard it said, that when your dead, you leave it all behind

But that can’t be true, cause I’m carrying you, forever in my mind

Generations come, generation leave, much faster than we know

Try to be strong, try to hang on, but in the end you learn to let go

Growing older, means going slower, learning to enjoy the ride

Loving yourself, and everyone else, has always been the prize

One of the these days, we are going to wake up, and one of us will be gone

But the sun, will continue to shine, even though the curtains drawn

I’ll be sitting here, at the outer cafe, just  the other side of time

Where the lovers wait, outside the gate, for those they leave behind
